In Cuba, the issue of care has given rise to multiple debates and studies due to the increase in the aging population and the increase in the demand for these services by the elderly and other population groups such as infants and people with disabilities. In the case of people with disabilities, care takes on a certain peculiarity due to the characteristics of this group and their homes. The article presented here focused on institutionalized cares services in the Historic Center of Old Havana, as well as on the analysis of the condition and position of women in the dynamics of care for young people with disabilities on the territory. The main results of the study reaffirm the reproduction and widening of gender gaps by placing women in positions of disadvantage and social vulnerability.

Palavras-chave : caregivers; gender inequalities; people with intellectual disabilities.
