The study aims to argue the importance and role of document management as a strategic resource for the achievement of essential objectives and the conservation of historical memory in organizations. Document and archive management has become a fundamental practice today, which has a significant impact on improving the transparency of public administration. The reflections are focused on identifying the challenges that organizations face in order to have reliable, truthful, authentic, unique and unrepeatable information that reflects the acts, processes, transactions and functions that they develop, and document the actions and decisions for the knowledge of the future generations.
