This article presents the results of the research “Prácticas en responsabilidad social UNIMINUTO-Urabá 2015-2018. Sistematización de la experiencia”, in order to enhance the reflection on the importance of educating for social responsibility within the university setting. This is a qualitative study that followed the five-step process to systematize educational experiences proposed by Oscar Jara, consisting of: starting point, systematization plan, reconstruction of the experienced process, further reflections and ending point. The results showed on the one hand that the success of an educational practice aimed at the responsibility is closely linked to the method used by the institution, on the other hand, that an educational experience taking its participants closer to the identification and intervention of specific social problems promotes the development of empathic, altruist, and self-esteem senses, among others, contributing to their very configuration as responsible social subjects.
