BADEL GOMEZ, Milton Fabián; REYES RUIZ, Lizeth e GUZMAN IBARRA, Isabel. Structuring Planetary Citizenship Based on Global and Intercultural Education. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.2 Epub 01-Ago-2023. ISSN 2308-0132.
The crises that humanity is currently suffering mean that phenomena such as environmental deterioration, corruption, exacerbated violence, violation of rights, the culture of exclusion, outbreaks of pandemic diseases, economic inequality, put survival at risk, as they mark the passage of man on the planet from an irrational anthropocentrism, leading human beings to self-annihilation and the extinction of other forms of life. This reality requires urgent attitudinal and behavioral changes in present and future generations, allowing the structuring of a model of citizenship with a planetary perspective, which is achieved from a comprehensive education, so it is up to the school to assume this responsibility. Based on these approaches, this article intends to reflect critically on citizenship education, from the rigorous analysis of a broad bibliographical review and the epistemological elements underlying a global and intercultural citizenship education. The conclusions indicate that in view of the circumstances that humanity is suffering, it is necessary to think of a planetary citizenship, which is structured from an education that contemplates globality and interculturality.
