TORRIENTE HERNANDEZ, Beatriz; VALDES, Orlando; LUGO SANCHEZ, Ana M  e  GONZALEZ GONZALEZ, Mayda. Value of electrosurgery as a conservative treatment of uterine cervix carcinoma in situ. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2002, vol.28, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

The early diagnosis and conservative treatment of the uterine cervix carcinoma in situ (CIS) is the milestone of the National Cervical-Uterine Cancer Program. The need of a diagnostic and therapeutic tool that keeps the psychical, reproductive and sexual capacity and quality of women is the basis of our goals and the motivation to present this paper. A prospective analytical study was conducted in 93 patients with CIS who underwent scissional biopsy with electrosurgery as an initial therapy for their affection. The diagnostic-therapeutic criteria followed at our office were evaluated among them. The percentage of diagnostic correlation between citology and colposcopy and histology was elevated. Once more, the value of the canal brushing diagnosis was stressed. Only 13,9 % had complications with the procedure. Electrosurgery as a conservative treatment was used in 100 % of the cases. It proved to be definitive in 90.3 %. According to the results, we consider as highly satisfactory the therapeutic procedure used in CIS carrier patients.
