This work systematizes some elements of the theoretical proposal of Communication on Population and identifies links with proposals such as Communication for Development and for Social Change, respectively, in search of defining some routes for communication work from the Demographic Observatories (OD). From the vision shared by CEDEM as an algorithm for the operation of ODs, it is considered essential to incorporate writers and communicators into the multidisciplinary work teams that make up these structures. The contribution from these professional profiles, in addition to producing information and messages of public good on essential issues for social development, can complement the knowledge of audiences, consumption habits segmented by age, territory, specific areas of origin and available media. in a specific context.
