Introduction:

The National School of Public Health in its condition of Branch School for the preparation of cadres and reserves of the health sector was considered suitable to teach the Diploma in Public Administration, which is carried out according to the policies of the Communist Party of Cuba, of the State and Government. In the 23 editions carried out in the period between February 2012 and March 2020, 495 managers graduated, 20 of them in the last edition.

Objective:

To characterize the participants of the edition of the Diploma in Public Administration developed at the National School of Public Health in 2020.

Methods:

A descriptive and retrospective study was conducted. The universe was constituted by 20 managers who attended the edition of the Diploma in Public Administration at the National School of Public Health in 2020.

Results:

The highest percentage was female, between 41 and 50 years of age, working in the Ministry of Public Health. They had between 1 and 5 years of permanence in the position and the highest percentage corresponded to cadres.

Conclusions:

Most of the students were cadres, under 50 years of age, women and expressed satisfaction with the knowledge acquired in the different courses; they are useful for daily work and therefore perceive to be better prepared to exercise the functions of control, planning and execution of the assigned tasks.
