JIMENEZ GONZALEZ, Iris; MOLINA PIEDRA, Dana  e  LOPEZ BACALLAO, Mileidis. Reflections on medical responsibility as a moral and legal value in the practice of the profession. Infodir [online]. 2022, n.39  Epub 01-Dez-2022. ISSN 1996-3521.

Introduction:

Student medical responsibility turns out to be a tool that not only interprets the university world of medical sciences, but also serves for its transformation into professional medical responsibility. During the medical career, the value of responsibility must be developed linked to legal bases.

Objective:

To approach in a reflexive way the variable legal responsibility in students of Medical Sciences for the future repercussion in the exercise of their profession.

Development:

A review was carried out in certified databases for health research on the definitions and pedagogical treatment of medical responsibility towards which educational strategies are directed. They are mostly focused on moral value rather than on legal aspects related to the performance of the profession once students graduate from our universities.

Conclusions:

The educational conception proposed for the development of legal responsibility in medical science students, in addition to philosophical, sociological and psycho-pedagogical presuppositions must integrate legal aspects. These should be addressed throughout their training, so as to expose the consequences and sanctions that may result from professional irresponsibility and prevent errors of the future health professional whose consequences may be criminal, civil and/or administrative.
