GONZALEZ RODRIGUEZ, Juan Francisco; MOLINA GALVEZ, Nancy; LLINAS CARRILLO, Sergio e BARTHELEMY ARTZE, Deysi. Morphological assessment and recommendation of standars for the Cuban pilot. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1996, vol.25, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.
The anthropometric assessment was carried out in all pilots examined in 1993 and 1994, at the Aerospace and Subaqueous Medicine Center, and they were classified as for the kind of airship they operate. A group of 102 subjects was selected, and classified into subgroups as for the weight assessment. This study was compared with one similar carried out in 1983. The average age raised in 1,5 decimal years, related with the age 12 years backwards; the size raised in 2 cm, and the weight decreased between 2 and 4 kg. The fat percentage decreased, and the body mass index useful for physical activity stayed almost the same. The somatotype maintained the mesomorphous predominance, but with a higher trend towards ectomorphy. The anthropometrical indicators were compared with the physiological, biochemical, and psychophysiological indicators, without finding important correlations. Morphological standards were recommended to assess the health status, and the aptitude degree of the Cuban pilot, on the basis of a rigorous statistical indicting, and the author's cumulative experience along more than 15 years.
