The economic analysis of the Laboratory of Medicinal Plants of "Comandante Manuel Fajardo" Military Hospital is presented. It is focused on the comparison of the results at the end of 1993 and 2000. The behavior and systemic relation of different elements of the process, such as the structure and increase of the cost of production, levels of activity and incomes were evaluated. The fluctuations and their causes, together with the responses derived from each problem were also analyzed. By applying the available techniques of cost-volume-utility, it was proved the need to conjugate the available capacities, the levels of activity, the consumption, the costs and the prices. By predetermining the production costs, it was possible to give an answer to their planning and to obtain prices according to the characteristics of the laboratory sustented on scientific bases that potentiate quality, control and the costumer's satisfaction level.
