PEREZ, Magela Pérez e REYES, Jesús Cruz. The Concentration and Centralization of Capital in Latin American Agriculture. Implications for the Peasantry. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2018, vol.160, n.2 ISSN 0252-8584.
In the evolution and development of capitalist agrarian relations in Latin America, the process of concentration of agrarian tenure is highlighted, linked to land grabbing with heterogeneity of manifestations within the Latin American context. These processes have a strong impact on small producers, increase the dependence of the rural population on the companies that control this process, and increase inequalities among producers. The insertion of transnational corporations in the Latin American agriculture played a key role in the process of agricultural modernization with its consequent impact on the peasantry, highlighting the functioning of the agrarian structure and minimizing the involvement of farmers in the final price. Countries in the region that base their development on primary products derived from this sector must overcome obstacles imposed by the capitalist system, seeking new relationships that allow greater benefits for the farmer, the worker and the underdeveloped countries.
