The discussion about the Social Responsibility of the University (SRU), it stays for several decades. In general, it is assumed that the SRU and their administration possess a regulatory scheme and praiseworthy practical experiences they merit a critical analysis; as well as the search of a proposal that it allows to articulate the theoretical and methodological postures of the universities in their relationship with the society. With the objective of identifying the tensions, challenges and proposals for the administration of the SRU, it leaves in this work of the analysis of the conceptualization and relevance that he/she is awarded to the university extension as process that will include all the stocks, activities that sum up the social responsibility of the university. The study of character theoretical prepositive is centered in the systematizing of the postures that you/they configure the practices of extension of the services and linking of the university with the society.
