TOLEDO FERNANDEZ, Ana Margarita et al. Learning needs in health promotion among professors at the primary health care level. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
A descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was conducted in 100 professors from basic working groups at the primary health care level all over the country that were taking part in the first Diploma Project on Family Health and Community. A tool designed by a group of experts from the ad hoc National Group is used in order to identify some learning needs in the Health Promotion area among the Primary Health Care professors, and to compare the results according to the territory of origin, taking into account basic elements, such as: health promotion antecedents, intersectoriality, community participation, communication, educative and group working techniques, among others. As a result, it was observed a great lack of knowledge of the aspects related to this topic and the fact that the professors themselves realized that their basic working burden has been directed to assistance and cure. They do not recognize that health is not only a responsiblity of the sector and they feel that they are not ready to take promotion actions. This situation is similar in all the territories.
