DIAZ GOMEZ, Silvia Ma; ZARAGOZI RUBIO, Edith e LORET DE MOLA, Tomás Tomás. Nominal group as an intervention technic in community. AMC [online]. 1997, vol.1, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.
The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of this technic in the stimulation of adolescents in a Dental Consultation. The design used for the study was a descriptive one. It was performed at the Primary Care Level of the Health Clinic 38 of the West Area of Camagüey city, from December 1994 to April 1995. 17 patients out of a universe of 38 adolescents were selected by a randomized method with inclusion criterium either for those absent for a long period of time, or those that attended periodically to consultation or they have never received stomatological treatment. After applying the technic to the adolescents´group, we checked its correlation with the hypothesis stated as to the effectiveness of it. Fear was the main problem, although the other statements are also interesting, due to the fact that any unsignificant problem gains importance when it affects health. This case shows how adolescents keep out of the stomatological consultation which is essential at this age of attitude changes, schedules and full of non schematic plans that break with habits created by their parents since early life. Concluding, the technic was useful for stimulating adolescents and achieving changes in their attitudes towards stomatological consultations; 76,48% incorporated to them and kept on treatment. The main problem was fear, and the adequate communication patient-dentist had the peak level as a solution.
