Resumo

A retrospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed about the afecction by the sick auricular sinus syndrome in 40 patients in our hospital within the period from December 1995 to May 1998. Our main results were an increase of the entity with age, becouse the higher number of cases presented after 55 years-old and the masculine sex prevailed over the femenine one. Ischemic cardiopathy (35%) predominated. Syncope and seasickmess were the main clinical manifestations. The most relevant results in the test performed were; hypokinetics in the echocardiography (35%), sinusal bradycardia in the electrocardiogram bclow 50 beats/minutes in 35 patients (87, 55) and 17 (42, 5%) with conduction disorder, in ergometry the response of decrease auricular sinus was found in 18 patients who uderwent the test. The most widely used form for treating patients was the cardiac stimulation by pacmarkers (55%), of them, the modality of ventricular stimulation was the one more used in 19 out of 22 patients (47, 5%) who used pacemarkss and in 18 patients (45%) who pharmacologic treatment, the atropine was applied in 15 of them (37, 5).
