Introduction:
the social construction of gender with the influence of the androcentric culture is a reality of the world and Cuban society. In young people it is evident the presence of sexist stereotypes that are assumed as natural by family education and the development of relationships established in the course of their lives.
Objective:
to identify sexist stereotypes in third-year Stomatology students of the Guantánamo University of Medical Sciences.
Method:
a descriptive, transversal study was carried out. The population was composed of 30 students from the third year of that career.
Results:
it was shown that sexist stereotypes exist in these students, which contributes to the establishment of power relations.
Conclusions:
the existence of sexist stereotypes is evident in the gender roles configured from socializing elements such as the family, educational institutions and the media.
