Some significant issues to maintain the ethical behaviour in the Pathology Department, in order to obtain a better development of the professional practice and to achieve excellence in health assistance were identified and described. It was concluded that elements as integral training of workers should be included, with priority in the ethical and vocational requirements; the collaboration of the professionals of this department with the assistance of the clinicians on the processes of the diagnosis and the information to the patient, as well as the establishment of a suitable work philosophy.
