A descriptive and cross-sectional investigation of 64 patients (calculated size sample) with chronic kidney failure depending on hemodialytic treatment, and assisted at the Hemodialysis Service of "Saturnino Lora Torres" Teaching Clinical Surgical Provincial Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, was carried out from May, 2013 to the same month of 2014, aimed at identifying the diastolic dysfunction in them through their echocardiographic characteristics. In the study the patients of the male sex aged 40 to 59 years and type II diastolic dysfunction were the most outstanding, with normal reduction, ejection and contractibility fractions; also the concentric heart remodeling prevailed (left ventricular hypertrophy), mainly in those undergoing hemodialysis for more than a year
