Introduction: the educational software is one of the alternatives that allow the professor to develop his class due to the diversity of functions that it presents. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational software in the Imagenology subject. Methods: an evaluation investigation was carried out, heading for the field of the medical education as resource of the teaching learning process in the Department of Dentistry of Holguín, in the period from February 2010 to March 2011. The universe was made up of 110 students of Dentistry of the Holguin’s province and the sample was made up of 60 students who gave a written consent for the investigation. Results: before the intervention just 30% of the students had knowledge of the approached topic and after having applied it 80% of the students dominated the content. Conclusions: the results of the investigation allowed evaluating the effectiveness of the educational software in the topic of the faulty radiographs, demonstrating that the method applied in the investigation was more effective than the traditional method because it provided a significant increment of the abilities in the radiographic interpretation.
