The first part of this work shows that the economic advantages of a looped network can be explicitly revealed by introducing a failure-cost term in the objective function of an optimization model. An example there illustrated how a looped network could be less costly than a branched one. A methodology was introduced in the first part to obtain not only an adequate value for the reliability of a looped network but also the appropriate design demand based on cost analysis. This second part presents a deeper insight into the comparison between looped and branched networks by applying the methodology to both types of networks and comparing the results in terms of cost and reliability. Considerations regarding available reliability definitions are also included.
