Disabilities are a problem affecting child population. Various studies have highlighted the importance of analyzing both the social and cultural factors that condition the attitude of society on this respect. The paper analyzes the development of the professional performance of nurses in attending disabled children conditioned by the transformation process of science and technology according to the changes in society in each stage. Both the methods of information critical analysis and the historical logical are used. The study includes the colonial, the republican, and the revolutionary moments. As conclusions, it states that development reached by the Cuban Health system is a reflection of both the development of science and technique and the great social transformations occur in Cuba after 1959.
