DELGADO PEREZ, Ailyn  e  INIGUEZ ROJAS, Luisa. Traits of welfare according to sources of income in a group of elder adults in the capital. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.27, pp. 1-10. ISSN 1817-4078.

Old age is part of one of the stages of the life cycle and is reflected from a socially determined age. This stage of life brings about transformations in the personal plane, in physical determinations, sometimes a financial dependence, the change of roles within the family environment, hence the importance of its study. It is very important for Cuban society to know how well-being is perceived in old age by that age group, since Cuba presents an accelerated aging of its population. The present research studies the welfare of older adults from four neighborhoods of the city of Havana, which present diverse sources of income. The sample is composed of 103 elderly people (as) over 60 years of age, to whom an interview-questionnaire was applied. The results showed that the different older adults’ sources of income influence but do not determine their well-being and that there is a diversification of needs and interiorities around this large age group.

Palavras-chave : welfare; older adults; economy.
