In the last decades the psychopedagogical studies gives importance to the metacognition in projection and development of the personality. The present research consists of a descriptive qualitative study of the metacognitive development of the students of the Pedagogy Psychology career at the University of Cienfuegos. The object of study is the initial formation of the psychopedagogue. Theoretical and empirical methods and different techniques for data collection are used, such as: Rotter test, interview with teachers and students. The selection of the sample is made to coincide with the universe (all the students and professors of the first two years of the race) in the province of Cienfuegos. The results are associated to the diagnosis of which are the didactic methods of preference for the student at this level and to contribute to the student participating in their training in the design of the process using their own professional tools.
