Educational technologies have impacted the teaching of all areas of knowledge, particularly Geography. The objective of this essay is to analyze the importance of the use of technologies for teaching geographic content. The study is based on scientific research methods such as hermeneutic and analytical-synthetic, as well as the content analysis technique. Among the main findings, it is highlighted that the teaching of Geography must respond to the new educational paradigms, aimed at the active participation of students in the construction of knowledge, the development of reasoning skills and interpretation of the theory in its practical relationship, the search for answers to the problems raised by the impact of human interaction with geographic space. Digital technological resources such as digital maps, satellite images, projections and audiovisual media, as well as the cooperative methodology contribute to the achievement of the purpose of teaching Geography. The revision and improvement of the study plans and curriculum of the Social Sciences is necessary to claim and give Geography its rightful place in basic general education.
