CAMPOS NAVA, Marcos; TORRES RODRIGUEZ, Agustín e MORALES MAURE, Luisa. Geogebra as a means to identify patterns in linear algebra class: a concrete proposal. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.2, pp. 528-537. Epub 02-Abr-2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
The use of digital tools in the teaching of mathematics is recommended, according to various investigations. It has been identified that the way of thinking and solving problems is different when they are approached with the use of digital resources. In the particular case of linear algebra, a discipline taught in the first semesters of engineering careers in Mexico, students are encouraged to know methods, techniques and algorithms related to the topic of matrices and are systematically asked to develop skills to solve them. Although the learning of these skills is necessary, it should not be the central objective of their teaching. Various authors identify that one of the central objectives of any mathematics course should be for students to identify patterns and be able to make justifications or generalizations associated with said patterns. In this proposal, it is suggested to use a dynamic geometry system such as GeoGebra, so that the teacher generates digital resources, such as dynamic templates with which the student can interact virtually, and that allow them to identify patterns, specifically in the topic of matrices, identifying numerical arrangements that generate matrices with null determinant, a case to develop in linear algebra.
