TARQUI-SILVA, Leonardo Eliecer; SANCHEZ-SALINAS, Marco Vinicio  e  MELENDEZ-PAREDES, Jacqueline Elizabeth. Deontological and psychotherapeutic analysis of the Ecuadorian model of residential rehabilitation for addictions. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.1  Epub 27-Fev-2023. ISSN 2218-3620.

The objective of the present investigation is oriented to the analysis of the deontological and psychotherapeutic reality of the residential treatment system for addictions that has been managed for decades in Ecuador, which entails a series of complaints about deaths and human rights violations. At the methodological level, a documentary search of a total of 65 articles was carried out, selecting the 20 main ones published from 2018 to 2022, from the databases: Scielo, MEDLINE, Dialnet, Psicodoc, PsycArticles, the main media of said country, and national and international postgraduate repositories. In terms of results, the research shows an improvement in the equipment of physical infrastructures, teams of various professionals have also been formed, however, it is not possible to find concrete statistical evidence from government agencies that corroborate that the Ecuadorian psychotherapeutic intervention model is effective. On the contrary, the Ecuadorian press and human rights entities have denounced the very poor compliance with bioethical regulations, despite the existence of various responsible control authorities. It is concluded that the rehabilitation processes for drug addicts must be updated, restructured and adapted to the needs of the Ecuadorian population.
