Costa Rica has the need to implement strategic development policies in regions outside the GAM; for which it is necessary to know the productive and labor dynamics (competitiveness, specialization, and location) that the different territories present. Also, given that there are differences in the specialization of productive activities within each region, an effort must be made to evaluate the competitive advantages in the different territories, to obtain better results from public policies of productive transformation. For this, it is strategic to identify and define productive corridors, with the potential to articulate productive activities and generate convergence in terms of the productivity of the economic units (sectoral) and at the level of the different geographical areas (regional). For the case of this research, we have found very favorable location and specialization conditions for the development of the San José-Puerto Caldera corridor.
