The article analyzes the conception and particularities of the informational dimension and Information Management in Public Administration. The objective is to present the strategic informational elements that may affect its development in Cuba. For this purpose, theoretical aspects of informational activity in this context, its evolution and current trends are examined. The notions related to the Information Society, Information Governance, “electronic government” and “open government” are also examined. The approach to the subject contemplates the development of informational diagnoses carried out in various entities and structures of government. Among the main results obtained are components and particularities of the informational activity, which are essential for the development of the cuban administration management, its effectiveness and efficiency, modernization and strengthening of the government-citizen relationship. The proposal articulates with the strategic focus of Information Management (in its organizational and procedural dimension), and its impact on informational culture, decision-making and new governance approaches as a result of the impact of Information and Communication Technology.
