FALCON LINCHETA, Leopoldina; DIAZ GARCIA, Víctor Manuel; DANIEL SIMON  e  CRUILLAS RIVERO, Manuel. Military medical inspection in dermatology. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1997, vol.26, n.1, pp. 14-18. ISSN 1561-3046.

The results of the military medical inspection conducted at the Dermatology Department of the "Dr. Carlos J. Finlay" Central Military Hospital during 10 years was studied aimed at knowing the skin diseases causing discharges from the Revolutionary Armed Forces more frequently. The following variables were analyzed: military rank, percentages, fitness, and quality of the selection process for enrolment. During the periods studied (1985-1989 and 1990-1994), the most common reactional dermatosis was the dermatitis due to contact with boots, which from one period to the other descended from 33,7 % to 13,9 %. Among the cosmetic dermatoses, the pseudofolliculitis of the beard (13.5 % and 15.2 %) and the polymorphous acne (16,5 % and 17,7 %) were the most frequent and the ones having an increasing character. A significant reduction of infectious dermatoses was observed in the second period.
