A study of the behaviour of the opthalmological casualties at the different battles from the Crimea War to the Gulf was conducted. The increase of percentages was confirmed as the theater of operations and the types of combat changed. The evacuation times and the enucleation criteria that have had significant variations in correspondance with the development of the speciality are also analyzed. However, it was ratified that the big problem to be solved by the ophthalmologist st wartime has not charg ed and it is still the presence of intraocular foreign bodies (IOFB), its bilateral and multiplicity.
