ESCOBAR, A et al. APPLICATION OF HPLC IN THE OXYTETRACYCLINE LATENCY PERIODESTABLISHMENT IN THE SHRIMP MUSCLE (Litopenaeus vannamei)IN A SEMI-INTESIVE PRODUCTION SYSTEM IN CUBA. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.2, pp. 97-105. ISSN 0253-570X.

A methodology for determining of oxytetracycline in shrimp muscle by high performance liquid chromatography was developed using reverse phase column and UV detection at 340 nm. Extraction was done with a solution Mcllvaine-EDTA and the extracts purified using solid phase extraction columns (C18-6mL-500mg). The method showed a recovered between 78.2 ± 9.9% with a precision lesser than 10% in the concentrations of 200 and 400 ng/g, linearity showed a correlation coefficient higher than 0.99 and the detection limit was 105 ng/g. Oxytetracycline latency period in shrimp muscle (Litopenaeus vannamei) was set between 14-20 days when the medicated feed containing 4g/kg was supplied for 14 days under semi intensive production conditions. The analyses of residues in five shrimp farm at the harvest time showed oxytetracycline levels above 100 ng/g.

Palavras-chave : oxytetracycline; HPLC; shrimp; latency period.
