Imported chicken meat contains hazards like Salmonella which could lead to risks for consumer population. This study was carried out in order to detect the presence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica strains, resistant to antibiotics in imported chicken meat, which can pass to the food chain. Three thousan one hundred thirty-two samples were analyzed. This research was carried out according to the methodology established by the Cuban Standards. The hazard caused by Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica in imported chicken meat was demonstrated. The most frequent serogroups were C2, B and D. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica strains isolated in imported chicken meat showed a high antimicrobial resistance.
