BRASETE, Maria Fernanda. Myth and Pedagogy in Contos Gregos, by António Sérgio. UH [online]. 2023, n.297  Epub 20-Jun-2023. ISSN 0253-9276.

It is the intention of this paper to analyze the three stories of Greek mythology (“Filémon y Báucis”, “História dos Argonautas” and “O cão de Ulises”) that compose the work Contos Gregos (1925), by António Sérgio (1883-1968). These are three short stories, in which the playful character intersects with a pedagogical intentionality, so we will try to show how these short narratives, by taking up again the characters, themes and motifs from Greek Antiquity, are invested with universalist ethical-moral values, in tune with the pedagogical-educational ideology that António Sérgio so fervently defended as a man, politician and thinker.

Palavras-chave : António Sérgio; Contos Gregos; children's stories; Greek mythology; literature and pedagogy.
