Resumo

The objective of this research is to analyze the mathematics learning process of students with intellectual disabilities in the eighth level of General Basic Education; this is a case study of qualitative research with descriptive approach which was developed in base of the results of the enquiries applied to 24 teachers, interview to the Mathematics teacher and direct observation to students in the classroom. The results highlighted the difficulties that students with mild intellectual disabilities have to face because the educational institution doesn’t have resources to motivate their learning process, there is a lack of teacher’s learning experience to address students’ educational needs who have difficulties to understand and process mathematical data. To conclude, there is a little institutional interest to comply with regulations related with inclusion whereas everybody has rights to education under equal conditions, it will be necessary to apply curricular adaptations to individual students’ needs.
