Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are symbionts associated to most terrestrial plants and have an important role in soil aggregation. However, there is a debate regarding how much soil aggregates depend primarily on particle grilled by fungal hyphae or organic substrate exudation such as glomalin. This review also considers whether glomalin really plays a key role on soil aggregation or if it is simply a fungal physiological function byproduct.
