GONZALEZ MENENDEZ, Ricardo. Exigencies and humanistic transcendency of the medical interview. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.5-6, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
Aimed at calling to reflection on the importance of the adequate fulfillment of the stages of the medical interview to attain a positive physician-patient relation and to make possible the technical and interpersonal satisfaction of the users in the health field, starting from the paradigm of the outpatient department, its classical stages are assessed and comments are made on its meaning for the patient. It is stressed the frequent world underestimation of the admission and farewell, as well as the iatrogenic by omission determined by the scarce level of information conveyed by the physicians. This last aspect has been reported as the most frequent technical deficiency in different latitudes. Emphasis is made on the value of the medical statement starting from the patient's objectives and not only from what the physician considers as enough, under pain of frustrating important expectations in the users. It is important to accomplish well all the stages of the medical interview to guarantee its success.
