GONGORA CASTILLO, Camilo; HERNANDEZ DIAZ, María; GARCIA FARINAS, Anaí  e  SANCHEZ DELGADO, Zoe. Labour competences proposals for physicians offering medical care services in Cuban hotels. Educ Med Super [online]. 2009, vol.23, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 0864-2141.

OBJECTIVE: to identify the main competences characteristic of physician working in five stars hotels, to determine the priority level for each competence and to value the development level in some of them. METHOD: a descriptive research. Wu used the bibliographic review techniques and Delphi. We applied the Fuller Triangle paired comparisons method, and we designed and validated a questionnaire in all physicians that in 2007 worked in hotels of such category in Varadero beach. RESULTS: we propose 21 competences. We gave more priority to: quality care, use of medical ethics and the professional privacy, emergent and re-emergent diseases domain, a continuous professional development, integral medical care, and use of two languages. We identified 8 competences as well developed, remainder showed a deficient development level. Five of competences were recognized as strengths, and others, as continuous improvement areas. CONCLUSIONS: we propose the competences for the work performance of physicians working in five stars hotels to contribute to a better selection process of human resources, and to improve the continuous education strategies for physicians from this sector. To know the self-perception of the development of such competences, allow us to visualize the strengths and to detect the weakness to direct the training strategies.
