MARTINEZ, María de los A; BLANCO, E  e  SURIS, Moraima. MEALYBUG (HEMIPTERA: PSEUDOCOCCIDAE) FAUNA ASSOCIATED TO PLANTS OF INTEREST: IV ORNAMENTAL PLANTS. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.1, pp. 48-53. ISSN 2224-4697.

In order to know the fauna of the mealybugsassociated to ornamental plants, samplings were carried out in gardens, avenues, parks and nurseries in different regions of the country. The frequency of such species collected was determined, and cluster analysis by Ward method and Euclidiana distance were used for grouping them according their hosts. In 25 ornamental plants, 14 mealybug species belonging to the genera: Dysmicoccus Ferris, Ferrisia Fullaway, Nipaecoccus Sulc, Paracoccus Ezzat and Mc Connell, Phenacoccus Cokerell , Planococcus Ferris and Pseudococcus Westwood were found. The greatest frequency species were Paracoccus marginatus , Pseudococcus longispinus, Dysmicoccusbispinosusand Dysmicoccus brevipes. Among them, Paracoccus marginatus was present in a greater number of plants, while the greatest mealybug host diversity was found in Hibiscus rosa-sinensis and Codiaeum variegatum.

Palavras-chave : mealybugs; ornamental plants; Hibiscus rosa-sinensis; Codiaeum variegatum; Pseudococcidae; Hemiptera.
