This work is intended to update the reader on aspects related with diagnosis and treatment of the chronic gingivitis, disease of great interest from the epidemiological point of view. Methods of treatment are studied which begin with health education, mentioning mechanic control of the bacterial plate and natural treatments to hygienic treatments. It stresses the responsability of the General Integral Odontologist in the control of risk factors of the periodontal disease.
