Resumo

A clinical essay, phase II, was carried out for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment with laser He-Ne in periodontal bone defects through digitalization of images at the Provincial Dental Clinic Camagüey from June 1999 to June 2000. Nineteen patients were studies according to inclusion and exlusion criteria who were divided ramdomly into two groups: study and control; with 10 and 9, respectively. Both groups received the initial preparation. A questionary was elaborated for determining the pocket depth, analysis of Love´s index of oral hygiene and Mühleman´s bleeding index and afterwards the surgical treatment indicated was performed. To the study groups, 10 sessions of laser with regenerative parameters during the surgical act and 9 posoperatory were applied, three times a week. They were checked at three and six months with clinical exams and periapical radiographies processed by image digitalization. Results reveal the effectiveness of laser He-Ne in repairing of periodontal bone defects as well as the accuaracy of the image digitalization.
