MARTINEZ HIRIART, Bárbara María; ACOSTA FERNANDEZ, Rosario; BARRIOS RODRIGUEZ, María  e  CARBAJALES LEON, Ana Isabel. Histological study of conization with diathermic loop in patients with cervical lesions. AMC [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.5, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.

Background: diathermic loop conization biopsy is frequently applied in diagnosis and treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Objective: to analyze the histological results obtained of conization in women with cervical lesions. Method: a cross-sectional analytic study in the Hospital Ana Betancourt de Mora of Camagüey from May 2006 to July 2007 was performed. The universe was constituted by one-hundred ninety-five women underwent to conization with diathermic loop. It was studied the histological result of the borders of surgical section, initial cytocolpohistologic and the final histological results. Results: it was observed that 50.77% of conized women had diagnostic of premalignant lesions. Free borders were obtained in one-hundred eighty-four women for 94.35%, what demonstrated effectiveness of the treatment and quality which the technique was applied. Statistically was proven the existence of significant differences among the initial cytological and final diagnostic. The one-hundred ninety-two women (98.46%) presented positive colposcopic results. In the premalignant lesions, total diagnostic correspondence existed among the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade I and II and initial and final biopsies. Conclusions: the predominant histological diagnostic was the premalignant lesion, the borders of surgical section free of lesion prevailed. Cytohistological correspondence in the cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade I and infiltrating epithelial carcinoma was verified. In most of the colposcopies was observed diagnostic coincidence reported as premalignant, malignant and benign in the conization biopsy. Correspondence existed between the cone results and initial biopsy.
