ZENA-GIRALDO, Sandra Angelita; DIAZ-BERNAL, Zoe  e  CASANOVA-MORENO, Maria de la Caridad. Communication of healthy practices to prevent COVID-19: public health challenges, Peru. Arch méd Camagüey [online]. 2023, vol.27  Epub 06-Jul-2023. ISSN 1025-0255.

Introduction:

In the last 30 years the world has witnessed pandemics and epidemics, as well as great advances in Public Health; however, in January 2020 a health emergency was declared due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused great confusion for Public Health in Peru. The Health Promotion strategy was challenged before and during the pandemic.

Objective:

To describe the way in which the communication of healthy practices to prevent COVID-19 was carried out and its possible impact on the behavior of morbidity cases, in Peru, during the year 2020.

Methods:

A bibliographic review was carried out with the bibliographic analysis method through a search carried out between the years 2003 and 2021, where specialized databases were consulted and 50 scientific publications on the subject were selected.

Conclusions:

In Peru, during 2020, the recommended practices to prevent COVID-19 occurred emphatically and systematically in the midst of the pandemic crisis. The statistics showed a progressive increase in morbidity cases, both in the population and in health workers, largely due to the fragmented, unstable, and sometimes contradictory way in which communication about these was carried out. The information presented about how healthy practices were oriented in Peru is relevant to establish a better health promotion policy.
