RUIZ, Nancy M; ALVAREZ, Giselle  e  NOA, Enrique. Procedures for obtaining the biological reagents for the DAVIH Ag P24 and DAVIH Ac P24 kits. Vaccimonitor [online]. 2003, vol.12, n.4, pp. 16-23. ISSN 1025-0298.

AIDS epidemic is one of the most serious problems affecting humanity today. Since science, despite all the great efforts made by scientists throughout the world, has not been able to find an effective vaccine to cure this disease, the use of anti-retroviral drugs has given the most successful results in improving life quality of AIDS patients. Hence, the importance of having the means to carry out an early diagnosis of the infection, as well as monitoring its progression with the purpose of having an influence on it. The present research work describes the obtaining of biological components required for the production of two kits used in Cuba for all HIV-AIDS related studies. To achieve this, a protocol was made that included different stages in the purification and immobilization of several molecules. Monoclonal antibody anti p24, HIV-1 p24, and polyclonal human antibodies anti p24 were obtained, with an adequate level of purity and biological activity allowing its use as intermediate products in the above mentioned stages and as reagents comprised in the kits.

Palavras-chave : purification; monoclonal antibodies; immobilization; p24; HIV-1; polyclonal human antibodies.
