Resumo

Modification to knowledge on the acute diarrheic disease in a health area of II Frente municipality. MEDISAN [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.8, pp. 1068-1075. ISSN 1029-3019.

A community intervention was carried out from September, 2008 to January, 2009 in 50 parents of children younger than 5 years, assisted in the Family Doctor's office of Sabanilla, belonging to "Eduardo Mesa Llull" Teaching Polyclinic, II Frente municipality in Santiago de Cuba, with the aim of increasing knowledge on the occurrence of acute diarrheic diseases at these ages, a program of classes was delivered bimonthly. Most of those participating had inappropriate knowledge on this respect before the educational action, but 3 months after this action, it was found that the inappropriate knowledge had diminished considerably, so that this positive experience could be taught to the rest of the parents from this health area, as well as to the closest relatives that lived with the children and who were in charge of their feeding.
