A sample of 7 024 blood donors attended at the blood bank of Guanabacoa and at its local mobile banks during the year 2000 was studied in order to know the prevalence of the VDRL reactive test, as well as the sex and the most exposed age groups. The VDRL reactive test had 1.7 % of prevalence less than the reported in the general population. Most of the blood donors with reactive results were males aged 21-40.
