Resumo

It present the stability studies for different coastal structures obtained by physical model studies. It was done at the Laboratorio di Ingeneria Costiera (LabLInc) of the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (DICEA) of the University of Naples Federico II, It was done a preliminary study using rock to form the armour of the breakwater, as result the failure of the structure was verified. A new design was done for a low crest of breakwaters and berms, using concrete cubes for the armour. The tests results demonstrated that the berms failed for the higher wave heights. For breakwaters the failure is associated with the location at breaking zone, it is recommend to apply an concrete element with more interconnection, and pay attention to the toe protection of the structures.
