The author of this research is a 2nd Year Resident of General Comprehensive Stomatology and Master in Stomatologic Emergencies. First degree specialist in General Comprehensive Stomatology. Assistant professor.

In the dissertation an experimental study of educational intervention was carried out with the purpose of raising the level of knowledge about periodontopathies in schoolchildren belonging to the Basic Secondary School.

Báguanos, Holguín province, in the period from October 2015 to January 2016.

January 2016. The educational intervention was carried out in its three stages: diagnostic, intervention and evaluation. Before and after the intervention, a questionnaire made by the author was applied to measure the level of knowledge about periodontopathies (Mora, 2021).

The work aims to raise the level of knowledge about periodontopathies in adolescents belonging to the Basic Secondary School "Leovigildo Ramírez" of the Báguanos municipality in the period from October 2015 to January 2016.

McNemar's Theorem was used since it is the only statistical test that allows deciding whether or not it can be accepted that a given ''treatment'' induces a change in the dichotomous response of the elements submitted to it, and it is applicable to ''before and after'' designs.

The results of the tables were described and compared with those of other studies on the basis of an inductive-deductive analysis that allowed the proposed objectives to be met, conclusions to be drawn and recommendations to be formulated.

The researcher of this dissertation recommends reinforcing promotion and prevention activities aimed at adolescents in order to raise their level of knowledge about periodontal diseases and eliminate risk factors, as well as developing new strategies for educational interventions in other schools to facilitate the work with adolescents and achieve a positive change in their attitudes in relation to their health care in order to contribute to the prevention of diseases.

A wide bibliographic review was carried out on periodontal diseases in adolescents and the factors that affect their appearance, using national and international literature related to the subject, in different websites and libraries, which made possible the design of the methodology of this research, as well as the processing of its data.

The author concludes that the educational intervention was effective in raising the level of knowledge about periodontopathies and improving oral hygiene in the adolescent population.
