Receiver channels amplitude and phase calibration in smart antennas is a crucial process to achieve the systems requirement. The implementation of these functions in a programmable device and the procedures for selecting its parameters is not a widely disseminated topic in the specialized literature. This work solves the previous problem by implementing the calibration algorithm in FPGA based on the requirements to guarantee the estimation of the direction of arrival (DOA) with super resolution. The design implemented in Hardware Description Language (HDL) corrects in real time the amplitude and phase errors between channels of the multichannel reception system with low latency and resource consumption. Experimental verification with real signals demonstrates that the errors obtained after calibration are within the expected range and corroborates the effectiveness of the design.
