PALOMINO-MARIN, Evelio e CEPERO-AGUILERA, Yanexi. Efficiency analysis of vibration isolation system installed on engine generator sets type MAN 18 V48/60 b. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.1, pp. 31-39. ISSN 1815-5944.
A vibroisolation system has a priority goal which is isolate vibrations. Such vibrations can come from the environment and could affect the machine behavior and could affect its technological functions too. That's the case of a machine tool, for instance. However, it is also possible that vibrations come from the own machine and in this case the main goal of vibroisolation system is to avoid that vibrations go to machine foundations. This is the case on which this paper is focused. Twelve vibration isolators with eight springs each one including a viscous damper are mounted as vibroisolation system on all the engine generator sets type MAN 18 V48/60 B which are installed in a Cuban Power Plant. Cracks with unknown cause have been present on an engine and after a prior evaluation; the vibroisolation system seems to be a possible cause. That's why vibration spectra where registered over and under each vibration isolator, evaluating isolation efficiency in a bandwidth of interest. As preliminary results it was found that some frequencies do not exhibit well efficiency levels having on this paper an alternate methodology for similar researches.
