In the context of the sixtieth anniversary of the creation of the current Enrique José Varona University of Pedagogical Sciences, a historical-pedagogical analysis of the actions of this institution in the pedagogical professional training of the teaching staff in charge of developing and directing artistic education in Cuba is carried out. With this, it is intended to contribute to the understanding of the contributions of this institution in the establishment and development of the manifestations of Arts Education in the Cuban Educational System from the training and improvement of middle and higher-level teachers, as well as in postgraduate education. In order to achieve this purpose, a retrospective analysis of the facts was carried out through the application of diverse research methods, both theoretical and empirical, in which field work and the author's experiences in different segments and contexts of society are highlighted, which has facilitated the inclusion of concrete examples of musical education. It is assumed that the transmission of this legacy is not only a review but also a way to enhance the professional identity of those who perform this work in each educational institution.
